Virtual Nature Center Walk-or-Run 

October 9-18

To Support the Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive

Register online . Adult  fee is $25. Children's Fee (ages 12 and under) is $15.

Choose your location and distance (1 mile, 5 or 10K). Tees and bibs provided to registered participants. Post photos using #WalkerRun2020 to be eligible for prize drawings in each distance category. Sincere thanks to our Finish Line Sponsor CDW-G and our prize donors Red's Table and Bare Snacks.

Spring Festival

Saturday, May 2, 2020 1-5 PM

Location: Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive

Free fun for all ages

 

Join us at this annual event where you can meet Walker the Woodpecker and purchase Dana Scheurer prints and notecards at our booth. The event features entertainment, craft-making for kids and a native plant sale. Enjoy fishing activities or rent a canoe/kayak on Lake Audubon. There will be over 30 booths, displays and activities from local environmental groups. Thanks to our Entertainment Sponsor, the Reston Community Center. Click here for more information.

Summer Shorts Film Festival

Date: TBD, 7-9 p.m.

Adults. Free, suggested donation $5

Temperatures are hot outside, so join us inside for some of the coolest short films that shed new light on environmental topics in concise, creative and quirky ways. Popcorn and drinks for sale. Each November, major donors, sponsors and partners join the Board at this invitation only reception at Nature House for highlights from the year and a look ahead at future projects.

Mini-Train Rides at Reston Town Center

Sunday, December 9, 2018, 12:00-4:00 PM (Last train leaves at 3:45.)

 

Enjoy a journey down the magical streets of Reston Town Center in a mini-train!  Pick up is in front of Talbots on Market Street, first come first serve. $5 suggested donation per person is appreciated.

Sweet Frog Fundraiser for RA Camp Scholarships

Enjoy a frozen yogurt treat and Sweet Frog will donate 20% of the sale to our RA Camps Scholarship Program. You must bring a copy of the flier or a print out of this screen to the cash register.

HEART Doubles Tournament

Saturday, May 19, 2018, matches start at 8:30 a.m.

Lake Newport Tennis Courts, Reston

$30 per player, $60 per team

 

Proceeds to the RA Tennis Scholarship Fund. Format: Round Robin, 2 divisions 3.0-3.5 and 4.0-4.5. Open doubles teams can be mixed or same gender. Storytelling Nights

Join Virginia’s premier storytelling troupe Better Said Than Done for a night of true, personal stories. These unbelievable stories will entertain and show you how life is better in the telling. Advance tickets are recommended due to limited seating. Cash bar and refreshments available for purchase. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Walker Nature Center.

5% Day at Whole Foods Market-Reston

Thank you to Whole Foods Market in Reston for choosing Friends of Reston to participate in your 5% Day program. We appreciate everyone who picked up groceries, grabbed lunch or dinner or splurged on that bottle of wine. Over $4000 was raised to help help our community projects, including Helping Homes and the Walker Nature Center.
