On September 16th, Better Said Than Done storytellers once again hosted a night of true, personal stories at the Walker Nature Education Center. The theme of the night was "Wild Life," and we got to hear some wild stories.
The night was hosted by Friends of Reston Board President and Better Said Than Done Founder Jessica Robinson. Storytellers included Richard Barr, Catherine Calvin, Fanny Crawford, Elinor Klein, Miriam Nadel, Mel Harkrader Pine, and Reston's own Bill Burton.
As usual, the show served a dual purpose. Entertaining as it was, this night of storytelling was also a fundraiser for Friends of Reston. Our own executive director, Katie Shaw, opened the night by discussing some of the projects FOR has helped fund - like camp scholarships and Helping Homes.
Katie Shaw had this to say about the night's fundraising efforts: "A BIG SHOUT OUT to the Better Said Than Done storytellers for their “wild” night of entertainment, which raised a net $402. BSTD has performed 10 shows at Nature House since July of 2010, raising $6,760 for FOR. It’s always a pleasure having them in the house!"
In addition to Better Said Than Done, a big thanks is owed to all of the Friends of Reston Board Members and supporters who have volunteered at the shows over the years. And, of course, to another great audience.
